A2 Fiber YouTube Contest for a Cause

If you enjoy making videos, uploading content to YouTube, or if you just have an interest in Ann Arbor then check out the A2 Fiber YouTube Contest being presented by LA2M. The contest is in support of A2 Fiber, the city of Ann Arbor’s initiative to be one of the few cities Google selects as pilot communities for its Google Fiber project. The contest kicks off tomorrow, Saint Patrick’s Day at 11:30 at Weber’s Ann Arbor. An Irish lunch buffet will be served and you will also have a chance to say why you think Google should choose Ann Arbor to receive a Google fiber-optic network. Winners of the contest have a chance to win a multitude of prizes including a Weber’s Ann Arbor Hotel and Dinner Package, gift certificates to Conor O’Neill’s, or even a chance to win an Apple iPad.

On February 10, Google announced that it plans to build and test ultra-high speed broadband networks in a small number of communities across the country. These lines will stream data at 1 gigabit per second, about 100 times faster than most Americans get through their current cable and DSL providers. If Ann Arbor is picked as one of these communities it would be a major asset to the community. Not only would it improve the lives of residents but it would also lure high-tech companies to relocate to Ann Arbor.

LA2M is Lunch Ann Arbor Marketing. LA2M is open to client and agency side marketing professionals, and anyone else who wants to learn about marketing. It’s a chance to exchange ideas and get to know other professionals during lunch in a relaxed and friendly environment. They are known for giving free advice to businesses that attend our meetings. There is no membership fee. It was started in 2008 by Derek Mehraban, CEO of Ingenex Digital Marketing, an internet marketing firm in the Ann Arbor area, and a few friends.

For more information about the A2 Fiber YouTube Contest visit the contest’s website at http://www.la2m.org/a2fiber or check out the contest’s rules.

Derek Mehraban to promote A2Fiber at Ignite Ann Arbor

“Imagine the whole world at your fingertips – at speeds faster than you ever thought possible.”

This is what Derek Mehraban, CEO of Ingenex Digital Marketing, will be speaking about at Ignite Ann Arbor on Thursday, March 4th.  His topic of discussion will be A2Fiber and it’s implications for the city of Ann Arbor.

A2 Fiber

On February 10th, Google announced that it plans to build and test ultra-high speed broadband networks in a small number of communities across the country. These lines will stream data at 1 gigabit per second, about 100 times faster than most Americans get through their current cable and DSL providers. A2Fiber is the city of Ann Arbor’s movement to become one of these communities chosen by Google.

Mehraban will have 5 minutes to present his topic in 20 slides, which is the format of the Ignite Ann Arbor program. As CEO of a digital marketing firm that specializes in search engine optimization, web design, and social media marketing, he will have a plethora of experience and knowledge to give to the audience on how a Google Fiber-Optic network in Ann Arbor would improve the community. Not only would an ultra-high speed broadband network improve the lives of residents of Ann Arbor, but it would also encourage new businesses and entrepreneurs to come to Ann Arbor.

A2Fiber, the city of Ann Arbor, and its supporters are calling for the entire Ann Arbor community to jump on the wagon. Become a fan of A2Fiber on Facebook, follow the discussion on Twitter, and fill out a Google form imploring Google to choose Ann Arbor. You can also check out the A2Fiber Youtube channel.

Ingenex Digital Marketing is also a community supporter of the A2Fiber movement.

Lighting the Future with LED

The future of lighting lies in light-emitting diodes, LED. LEDs present many advantages over incandescent light sources including lower energy consumption, longer lifetime, smaller size, faster switching, greater durability, and improved reliability.  A company that is a major player in the future of LED is OSRAM Opto Semiconductors.

3rd Home: The Evolution of the Vacation Experience

A few weeks ago, I was watching the movie “The Holiday” which stars Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet. In it they both have hardships that occur in their life and feel the need to get away for awhile. That’s when both of them go online and participate in a home exchange program that allows them to vacation at each others houses. I was watching this and I thought, “Wow that is a great idea.” I had no idea that there was an American company perfecting that very idea with homes all over the world. That company is 3rd Home.

A Third Home

3rd Home is a premier vacation property management and home exchange website where you can exchange your second home with other luxurious vacation houses and enjoy exclusive access to some of the most desirable resorts and private destinations in the world. The man behind 3rd Home is Wade Shealy.

Wade is recognized as one of the country’s leaders in resort real estate sales, marketing and development. Over the last 25 years, he has been responsible for projects including Sandestin, Florida and Hampton Island, Georgia and dozens of others totaling more than $3 billion in revenue.

The basic idea of 3rd Home is that instead of people trying to rent or lease out their second home when its not in use, they supply it to 3rd Home and in exchange they can vacation at one of the many properties available in the 3rd Home database. 3rd Home runs a “Key Program” that controls the home exchanges. A second home exchange “banking” system debits and credits “keys” to and from member accounts with each exchange. These keys become “currency” that is good anytime, anywhere. Members accumulate keys for hosting other members and then use those keys to vacation at other properties. Each premier property has a key ranking between 1 and 5 keys. There is every kind of property, from beachfront properties to luxury mountain resorts.

Whatever you want to call it, 3rd Home’s luxury home exchange program is the first of its kind. Their vacation homes are the some of the most luxurious in the world and 3rd Home far surpasses any other home exchange program I’ve seen. 3rd Home may not be a viable choice for every vacationer but for those who are able to participate in a program like this, they should definitely take a look at 3rd Home.
